Psychology
1. What is the difference between counseling and guidance?
Counselling is a face-to-face assistance process between a Psychology Officer and a normal client while guidance is a process of helping individuals towards knowledge, understanding and skills.
2. What kind of problems can be discussed?
The kind of problems that can be discussed include performance and career, health, family, development and skills, spirituality, finance, attitude, addiction, psychosocial problems and others.
3. Are the things discussed during the counselling session kept confidential?
Any issues/information discussed in the counselling session is confidential and will not be disclosed in detail to any party without your consent except:
- For referral cases, a brief report will be submitted to the Head of Department that referred the case.
- A situation that can bring danger and harm to yourself or to others.
- A situation that has proven to be in violation of existing laws, regulations of the state and organizations such as crime and so on.
In-Service Training (LDP)
1. How do I apply for a sponsorship programme/ study leave form PSD?
Advertisements on PSD scholarship programmes / study leave applications will be released from time to time on the website https://bmipenajaan.jpa.gov.my/ms/
2. Can I accept an offer for study from a university if the specialisation field offered corresponds to the specialisation field for which I applied but is under a different faculty/field?
You are required to notify this matter officially to BMI, PSD, and any decision is subject to BMI’s approval.
3. The sponsorship duration approved by PSD as the sponsor is shorter than the study duration offered by the University. As the sponsor, how does PSD determine my approved sponsorship duration?
The determination of PSD’s sponsorship duration is based on the learning structure of the programme/country and the mode of study of the HLP sponsorship recipient.
4. Can I change the mode of study whenever I wish?
You are not allowed to change the mode of study either before or during the study. The mode of study is based on the application you submitted when applying for the Federal Training Fund (HLP).
5. Can I change the field or specialisation of study before or during my study?
You are not allowed to change the field or specialisation. The determination of the field of study is based on your application.
6. Where should I report for duty after graduating?
For Common-Used Officers, you are required to report for duty at BMI, PSD after graduating. For Non-Common-Used Officers, you may report to your Department, but make sure that your Head of Department immediately forwards a copy of the reporting for duty confirmation letter to BMI, PSD.
