Report Information, Don't Spread It

KUALA LUMPUR – The police have urged the public not to spread any information regarding gambling activities in Kuala Lumpur. Instead, they are encouraged to channel such information to authorities for raids and arrests.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim, said the community can contact the Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) operations room, which is open 24 hours, via phone at 03-21460670 or WhatsApp at 017-3169779.

“If there is any information about gambling or gangsterism activities, please provide accurate details to our operations room for action.

“There is no point in spreading such information publicly as it may disrupt investigations. It can also cause other issues, such as threats to the whistleblower themselves. The best course of action is to contact us directly, where the informant’s identity will be kept confidential.

“If the information goes viral, people will obviously know who provided it. However, if the report is sent directly to the police, the identity will remain confidential,” he told reporters after the launch ceremony of the Facial Recognition CCTV system at KK Mart, Taman Desa Petaling today.

Also present at the event was KK Mart’s Founder and Executive Chairman, Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai.

Earlier, the police said they would summon a burger stall owner known as Asri Janggut soon to assist in an investigation related to a viral video alleging that authorities have not been monitoring gambling activities and the sale of smuggled cigarettes in the Sungai Buloh area, Selangor.

Sungai Buloh District Police Chief, Superintendent Shafa’aton Abu Bakar, said they have received two police reports concerning the video from the Sungai Buloh Police Station Chief and the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA).

He added that the viral video could cause defamation and damage the image of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in handling gambling activities in Sungai Buloh.

Moreover, the information given in the video is inaccurate.
